Colby Raha Shatters World Record with 205-Foot Harley-Davidson Jump at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

STURGIS, SD – August 2, 2025 — Under the blazing South Dakota sun, history was made in front of a roaring crowd at the legendary Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. At the heart of the action was none other than Colby Raha, the multi-time X Games medalist known for pushing the boundaries of freestyle motocross. On this unforgettable evening, Raha launched his 500lb Harley-Davidson Sportster an unbelievable 205 feet, setting a new world record for the longest jump on a V‑Twin motorcycle.

The feat was nothing short of breathtaking. And fittingly, it happened at The Thunderdome, a venue that’s quickly becoming ground zero for modern daredevils looking to make their mark.

A Record 15 Years in the Making

Before Raha ever touched the throttle, he knew the weight of the moment. The previous record—183.7 feet—was set in 2010 by Seth Enslow and had stood unchallenged for over a decade. Prior to that, Evel Knievel’s iconic 133-foot leap in 1975 remained one of the most storied jumps in motorsports history. To break those records on a Harley-Davidson, in front of a crowd of thousands during the most famous motorcycle rally in the world? It wasn’t just bold. It was borderline mythic.

Raha’s first three jump attempts were picture perfect—so perfect in fact that he knew he needed to be traveling 77 MPH to tie the current record, and he did just that... three times in a row. Beating the previous record by inches. The issue was the 700 foot runway that was available, it took everything that Harley V-twin had in that 700 feet of runway for Colby to gain enough momentum to soar 183.7 feet+. After the third jump, Colby didn't wait around to know where he landed... he wasn't satisfied, decided he was going again and sped back to the beginning. This time going all the way into the grass on the outside of the road on the edge of the parking lot to gain as much speed as possible.

On his fourth try, he held the throttle pinned off the lip, hit the ramp at 79 mph, and soared 205-feet, almost landing FLAT. No tricks. No room for error. Just raw speed, razor-sharp timing, and full commitment.

The crowd exploded as Raha landed clean and rode away into the sunset (literally—the sun was setting in the background). The risk, the buildup, the raw audacity—it all paid off.

A Rider Built for This Moment

Colby Raha isn’t your average FMX rider. With a BMX background and a creative, unpredictable riding style, Raha has become one of the most innovative forces in modern action sports. He’s a seven-time X Games medalist, a stunt innovator, and the first person ever to grind a rail on a full-size motorcycle—a stunt that earned him widespread acclaim and viral fame in 2020.

Raha blends classic motocross skill with street influence, bringing a unique edge to everything he does. But even for him, this jump was next-level.

“My team said, ‘We want to walk out of here safe,’ and I said, ‘We didn’t come here to not break a record,’” Raha said post-jump. “What would Evel have done? I think he’d have done the same.”

That fearless mindset, paired with calculated technical skill, is what’s turned Raha into a generational talent—and what made this record possible.

A Tribute to Legends, A Leap Into The Future

This jump wasn’t just about going far. It was about honoring the pioneers of motorcycle stunt riding. Evel Knievel practically invented the genre, and his jumps on Harley-Davidsons throughout the '60s and '70s created a blueprint for the daredevils of today. By breaking the record on a V‑Twin Harley in Sturgis—arguably the spiritual home of American motorcycling—Raha paid tribute to that legacy in the most explosive way possible.

It also marked a new chapter. The jump was part of a broader evolution of extreme sports, pushing boundaries on the biggest stages possible through Record Breakers Co.

More Than a Jump—A Cultural Moment

The 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was already a high-octane celebration of riding culture, but Raha’s world-record leap took it to another level. Fans came from around the world to see something unforgettable—and they got it. The event was packed with energy: revving engines, thumping music, camera flashes, and a crowd hanging on every second leading up to the jump.

The spectacle, the tension, and the release of adrenaline when Raha stuck the landing will live in the memories of everyone who witnessed it. For many, it was the single most thrilling moment of the entire rally.

What’s Next for Raha?

With this jump, Raha has solidified his place among the greats. But knowing his track record, this isn’t the end—it’s just a new beginning. Whether it’s conquering more records, dropping groundbreaking video parts, or redefining what’s possible on two wheels, Raha continues to inspire a new generation of riders to believe that anything is possible with hard work and dedication.
